This year, Diablo III celebrated its fifth anniversary, but Blizzard does not seem to have finished with it yet. Seasons change, patches and content updates come out, from unsuccessful mechanics and decisions are gradually abandoned. In 2014, the addition of Reaper of Souls returned the lost gloomy atmosphere to the game and added a crusader, a local version of the paladin from the second part. Three years later, another guest from the past, a necromancer, appeared in the game.
The choice of developers at first seemed strange. Another pet class, built on invocations and curses? We already have a sorcerer, thank you. Fortunately, the necromancer differs drastically from him. At the severe priests of Ratma, a peculiar view of balance – these guys kill everything that moves, and resurrect everything that is dead. Because they can, obviously. It looks very epic: a necromancer, accompanied by a suite of skeletons, breaks into a crowd of enemies, pulls out bones from their bodies, puts them on himself as armor and starts calling on the skeletal magicians, creating their own copies, blowing up corpses and planting opponents on the emerging ones, Under the earth bone stakes, finishing the survivors with sweeping strokes of the braid.
Necromancer is not like the other classes of Diablo III: the essence, its main resource, accumulates basic attacks and is spent on summoning helpers, curse and various spells. With this, everything is clear, it would seem, nothing new. But the follower of Ratma has a trump card in his sleeve – the corpses of enemies. With their help, he attacks the enemies, heals, heals the reserves of the essence, he revives them and, most importantly, blows them up. Weak and vulnerable at the beginning of the battle, the necromancer becomes stronger the more enemies he kills. The more corpses at the disposal of a necromancer, the more enemies he can kill. The more I killed, the more dead bodies … You understood the logic. At some point, all you need to do in combat is to hold down the button for exploding corpses and drive your mouse across the screen, turning the army of monsters into a bloody mash. For completeness, it is worth mentioning that if desired, a necromancer can strengthen most of his spells with his own health reserve and is able to call almost three dozen different followers at a time, so that situations where there are more good guys on the screen than bad ones are not uncommon in principle . Of course, it’s not easy to navigate in such chaos, and ladders show that this is not the most effective build of the character, but the possibility itself is impressive.
Return of the necromancer appeared in Diablo III as part of the update 2.6.0, which added a new type of Nephalem portals and two new zones for the adventure mode – Misty wasteland and the Temple of the Firstborn. New locations are sure to attract players bored by the oppressive atmosphere of the very first part. After the local werewolves scampering the forest more often, and sectarians, alive fresh people in the buried underground temple of the first nefalem, even the Reaper of Souls looks like a walk in the park in the afternoon, what can we say about the usual Diablo III.
The portals of daring, in turn, will attract players with a competitive streak. Each week in Blizzard choose one of the gates of the great portal by a casual player, save all the information, from the build and equipment of the character to the exact location of the monsters at the level, and on the basis of this information create a static dungeon, after which they offer players to beat the time set by the player, Who originally passed this portal. For the victory is supposed a weekly reward in the form of a bag with money, materials and bloody splinters.
This is probably my favorite kind of portals at the moment, because instead of mindlessly calling monsters and farm loot, he offers something radically new for the series. We have to learn in detail the map of dungeons, the location of special monsters, carefully plan their movements and, with a cherry on the cake, adjust to the style of the game of a stranger to you. In addition, you compete not only with the “master” of the portal of daring, but also with your friends, the time of passage of which is displayed in a special table. The desire to get around familiar people attached to this race drive.
And new locations, and daring portals, and additional orders are available to all Reaper of Souls owners free of charge, to buy Necromancer return for access to new content is optional. Against this background, the price of the upgrade looks somewhat overpriced (for a new class and a pack of decorative objects like a pet, wings and frames for a portrait have to shell out $ 15), but believe me, this necromancer is worth it, the sensations of the game are unique, and you just look how Cool it looks! In short, everyone who left the game we recommend to return to evaluate new locations and run through the portals of daring, and those who continue to play, we want to ask – do you think whether the new necromancer managed to withstand the mark, or a proven classic from Diablo II Remains out of competition?
