Starting from today, the certification program for third-party accessories Made for Google, the rumors about which appeared earlier this week, was launched. As expected, Made for Google is, in fact, the analogue of the Made for iPhone / iPad (MFi) program, in which devices from various manufacturers are certified for compatibility with Apple products.
By analogy with Apple MFi, products certified for use with Google devices will have a corresponding mark (Made for Google) on the box.
News about the launch of the Made for Google program were announced at yesterday’s presentation. At the same time, Google revealed the names of the first 26 partners who will sell Made for Google accessories.
Some partners have already prepared their own solutions, which are already available for purchase in the company’s online store Google Store. Among these Made for Google accessories are smartphone cases, cables with a USB-C connector, headphones, various adapters, power adapters, interchangeable lens sets, protective glasses for screens and car chargerers.
In general, the range is wide enough.
In theory, this program should prevent any problems in the work, since the presence of the Made for Google logo implies that an accessory has been pre-tested for compatibility with Google products. The negative side is that such accessories for obvious reasons will cost more.
